The Sebastian Foundation reached milestone of $1 million for Mental Health in 500km walk!

Australian superstar Guy Sebastian and his best mate Tim Freeburn took on the challenge to raise $1 million dollars for youth mental health by walking 500km from Wagga Wagga to Sydney. Guy’s charity, The Sebastian Foundation, supports the in-school educational program for mental health, Open Parachute, that boosts resilience, self-awareness, and social responsibility in young people. Knowing that every $30 raised gives another child the opportunity to participate in the program was the incentive for the challenge. “Open Parachute is so incredibly effective as it is peer to peer in schools… it should be available to everyone” - Guy Sebastian. Despite the blisters and below zero temperatures, Guy and Tim walked from Wagga Wagga through the towns of Cootamundra, Goulburn and Camden, to name but a few of the places they visited on their journey, before finally finishing their 15 day walk on the set of Channel 7’s Sunrise in Sydney’s CBD. Through corporate sponsorship and individual donations, Guy and Tim were thrilled to exceed their fundraising goal of $1 million dollars. This fabulous achievement by all involved now means that more than 35,000 young people can participate for a full year in the Open Parachute program. eGift it was honoured to be a proud sponsor of the STEP CHANGE Walk.
